Michelle Mischkulnig Profile Photo Uluru 2018Michelle Mischkulnig

I have been a textile artist forever and that’s a fabulous forever. What I will bring to Uluru as a tutor is a possibility. I will introduce the participants to a glorious hand dyed silk mesh fabric, delicate and light to touch with a sensuous drape and luster this is the base cloth to be richly embellished and free motion stitched. The cocoon wrap will be a organic free flowing art garment which is fully reversible.

The fibres and fabrics we will use will be hand dyed including carefully selected yarns, hand dyed silk fibres and velvets. The beautiful cocoon wrap which will created by the participants will be inspired by the colours of Uluru, sunsets and sunrises, early morning and Kakadu, vegetation and changing light.
I don’t try to create a botanical drawing or accurate depiction; I create an emotion, an interpretation. It is an expression of what I have observed, listened to, sensed and carried in my heart, head and hands it is a possibility. I believe the secret to a creative life is let your intuition, curiosity and soul capture the sparkling magic that surrounds us and ever present at Uluru.
